Amazing Discoveries That I Learned While Feeding An MLM Millionaire Last
Week! by David Ledoux
I LOVE talking to successful people!
Mark Victor Hansen of Chicken Soup For The Soul fame was right. If you want
to shortcut your learning curve, take a millionaire to lunch!
I had the pleasure recently to sit down with a BIGDOG in the industry of MLM.
He started in the industry from a job he hated in 1995. He toiled, struggled and
bounced into 4 separate companies for 7 years. Then he finally joined the 8th
biggest MLM in the world in 2002.
This is where the story really gets interesting. In just 24 months he built a
team doing over $1 million USD in volume. He did it without a single web page.
He did it without a single autoresponder. And I shoveled food into him as fast
as I could while he spilled the beans on how he did it!
I couldn't help but smile while we visited for about 4 hours. I kept thinking
of an acquaintance of mine who just quit the MLM industry for good. He used to
be a top earner, but over the last few years the heroin-esque internet got her
claws into him, and the sweet, sweet pain of the modem sucked the life out of
him....the last thing he said to me was "MLM is dead in North
America..."...and yet here I was sitting eyeball to eyeball with a guy who
built a team of 15,000 in 24 months....in a big, fat, old, tired company that
had "peaked" according to the "experts"....
The "how-he-did-it" details are rather mundane. He taught his
entire group a duplicatable presentation. He taught his entire group a
duplicatable method of starting the new distributor. He taught his entire group
how to use the Power of Association once a week and once a month through in-home
meetings and Super Saturdays. He added a leadership development component and a
recognition strategy to the mix. And then they just went to work. Which required
leaving the house...a killer to those addicted to the soft flicker of the
monitor.
It was amazing the similarities between his methods and how I built my big
group. I gave him a copy of my course, The Ultimate MLM Blueprint and he was
kind enough to give me his system. I learned a few nuggets of gold from him. And
he from me. His team was weak in the list-building department, and I helped him
with a few strategies. But more than anything, it was just really, really cool
to sit down with a guy making $3000 a day and talk shop.
His background was fascinating. He came from one of the most successful
corporations in the world. They are legendary for their meticulous planning and
procedures. I asked him how his time in that environment helped or hurt his MLM
career. It was an amazing answer. "David, when I had a job we had a video
training for every single aspect of our jobs. We could take a new hire and have
them up to speed on a week. Which was important...you can't get new guy's arms
and fingers trapped inside big machines, it hurts the company! I did the same
thing here. Every single aspect of our MLM business has a training video. A new
guy can be up to speed, know our entire system, and be trained on how to produce
'within that system' (!) in one afternoon". Amazing!
Here's a question for you...do you have a method of teaching new people in
your group down infinite generations how to do a 1-on-1 presentation? Well?
Notice I said "teaching"....not "doing it for them". A
flash web movie is not "teaching". Take a random cross section of 100
members of your downline and let them each give you a 1-on-1...are you
franchising your concepts or is it random chaos? Do you even have 100 members in
your downline? If not, then you need to get in from of some new people.
I challenge you to think HARD about your business this week. Where are the
holes? What isn't working? Why not? How can you fix it?
Build an empire on stone, not sand.
I appreciate you!
