The Art Of The Virtual Chat by Sue Seward
Building your Network Marketing business without building relationships,
whether on or off the Internet, is like building a house without a foundation!
As soon as the first big storm hits it all washes away and you have to rebuild
it again, don't you?
Approach relationships on line the same as you would in person.
Virtual (online) chat rooms and discussion forums are a fabulous venue to get
to know others and expand your knowledge at the same time. The World Wide Web
has given millions access to connect and share varied interests.
What's yours?
Your initial interest may be in expanding your MLM or network marketing
business but consider your other interests as well.
There are virtual discussion groups for every interest under the sun!
Get Connected
Finding a discussion forum is fairly simple when you have Internet access. If
you are new to discussion groups, type in www.google.com or www.yahoo.com and
enter the phrase "MLM Discussion Forum". The
search will bring up links to thousands of websites and chat groups.
One of the ones that I enjoy contributing to is mlm.com
Join one that looks interesting by following the instructions to sign in and
read the conversation postings. You will quickly get a feel for the ideas that
are being shared.
Once you've found a forum to discuss business building ideas, check into
other areas that interest you. For example, book discussions forums, moms
groups, etc.
This arena allows you to connect, just as if you were in person. What happens
when you connect with others, they want to know more.
What if you were told never to reveal who you are online? This is business.
If your were meeting someone at a networking event, you would introduce
yourself, your company, and your 7 second personal tag line.
Be professional and genuine.
The same commitment you bring to networking locally, offering service, value,
and opportunity, will build true lasting relationships.
You have heard that people are the same everywhere. They are. Just like you
and I, they want the same things. The virtual environment simply allows you to
bring your desire to help others get what they want to a larger world.
Cultivating relationships on the web is like gardening. It takes patience,
planting seeds, watering, pruning, and weeding.
When you begin participating in forums and chat rooms you will make friends,
contacts, and learn from others building strong successful businesses.
Planting Tips:
Imagine yourself entering a room of people. When you join a chat room, watch
for the conversation streams.
Join conversations you are interested in. Contribute, ask questions. When
others ask about you, be honest.
Be prepared to follow up when interest is shown. A personal website, a
newsletter, a link to your corporate site will help your new online friends get
to know you.
When doing "Internet Farming" I suggest the drip approach. Drip
little bits of information to your friends on a consistent basis. Sooner or
later something clicks with them and when the timing is right, they ask about
your products and services. Most of my business partners have come from this
approach!
It's always about serving people! Keep a non-pressure low key atmosphere to
make people feel comfortable. This servants approach allows us to guide and
advise not to pressure them into something that may not be right for them. Not
only is it right for them, but are they right for us?
After some practice, it doesn't take long to find this out. You'll start to
pick up on little clues and you'll know what direction to point them in.
Remember it's ALWAYS about them!
