What Wayne Gretzky Taught Me About Success by David Ledoux

Do you recognize the name Wayne Gretzky?

He's a national hero in Canada. Simply the greatest hockey player who ever lived. One of the greatest sports stars ever. We call him "The Great One".

Wayne would make an incredible network marketing coach. He has some brilliant tidbits of wisdom.

My favourite Gretzky-ism?

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Think about it for a second. Remember back in Grade 10 when you saw that cute boy or girl at the school dance? Remember how tingling and giggly you got at the thought of dancing with them? Remember how you ached and wished so hard that they would come up and ask YOU to dance? Remember how your friends teased you and urged you to go ask them? Remember how you hated yourself and were filled with regret for days when your curfew came and you had to leave? How did it feel to be too afraid to ask that person to dance?

In network marketing, when you don't take the shot of talking to the big scary prospect, you're missing a shot. You'll feel even worse when that big scary prospect joins someone else's downline!

What about failing to follow-up? What about lacking the discipline to turn off the TV and get your numbers in? What about skipping the company convention?

All shots, all missed, all never taken.

Gretz realized scoring goals was a ratio. Take 10 shots, score one goal. He realized that any event, repeated often enough, produces a ratio. He also realized that even a rookie with less talent than him could outscore him simply by taking more shots. Gretz always made sure he took the most shots....so do the top earners in your company in network marketing.

Here's a parting thought for you. Do you realize you can't learn to skate from a book? You MUST BE BAD BEFORE YOU CAN BE GOOD, not just at skating, but at anything. Ice is hard...chances are you'll fall a few times. But getting back up is part of learning to be good!

Now if only we could teach our downlines how to skate backwards....
